Convergent Evolution

Convergent Evolution

Convergent evolution is when unrelated animals have same biological characteristics. For example birds and bats are both are active flyers but their common ancestor goes back hundreds of millions of years. How birds developed active flight is completely different from bats. They both have wings but their anatomy is different. Insects, birds, pterosaurs, and bats all evolved flight independently of each other.
